Andrea Magrì

Andrea Magrì is an Assistant Professor in Molecular Biology (SSD BIO/11) at the University of Catania since 2019, affiliated with the Plant Biology section. He earned his PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Catania (2015) after studies at Ben Gurion University (2013) and UCLA (2017). His office is located at Biological Tower, East Tower, 4th floor, Room 42.

His research focuses on mitochondrial functionality and Voltage-Dependent Anion Channels (VDACs) in neurodegenerative diseases including ALS, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's. He investigates pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic targets like NHK1 peptide activity in Alzheimer's models.
