Andrea Johnson

Andrea Johnson is an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, affiliated with the Music Business/Management department. She holds a Master of Music (MM) from the University of Miami (1995) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Colorado Denver (1991).

Her research and professional focus centers on the intersection of music business and performance, emphasizing entrepreneurial practices for artists. She has worked with major artists like Gloria Estefan and Elton John, developed curriculum using StrengthFinders to assess student talents, and pioneered a 50/50 revenue-sharing label model at Blackroom Records in 2001. Andrea also founded the production company MonoMyth Media in 2008.

Andrea is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), with expertise in international music operations, including visa processes, work permits, and cross-border collaborations. She advocates for dual majors and informed performer-label partnerships in the music industry.
