Andrea Griesebner is a University Professor of Modern History at the Institute of History, University of Vienna, with a career spanning over three decades. Her research focuses on feminist perspectives in cultural, legal, and gender history of the early modern period, particularly examining matrimonial jurisdiction, divorce practices, child custody, and property division from the 16th to 19th centuries. She leads the cross-faculty research group Contexts of Marriage and Divorce and has coordinated numerous projects, including the Doing Divorce initiative (2019–2023) and the Marriages at Court web portal.
