Andrea Collins

Andrea Collins is an Associate Professor affiliated with the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability and the Balsillie School of International Affairs at the University of Waterloo. Her work bridges gender studies, international relations, and environmental politics.

• Research focus on feminist global governance, land politics, and counter-movements against LGBTQ+/women’s rights in food and agriculture systems.
• Governance frameworks for global land, agriculture, and food politics.

She authored the book Gender and the Global Grab: A Feminist Global Governance Approach (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2024), analyzing gender norms in land governance. Her current research examines transnational resistances to gender and LGBTQ+ rights within international institutions.

Dr. Collins welcomes supervision of students aligned with her expertise in gender, environmental politics, and global governance.
