Andrea Cleary is Assistant Professor in Visual Art Education at Dublin City University's Institute of Education. She develops curriculum for initial teacher education programs, specializing in process-led art approaches, nature-based pedagogy, and sustainability in art education. Her research employs arts-based methodologies to examine transformative learning experiences.
She created the 'Process Art and the Natural Environment' module emphasizing intuitive creation with natural materials. Current collaborations include an Art-Math integration project exploring pattern creation through printing techniques, funded by Maths4All.
Her work with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland's CRAFTed program promotes craft education in schools. Cleary also leads sustainability initiatives using recycled plastics for wearable art projects.
