Andrea Cattabriga

Andrea Cattabriga is a Research Fellow in the Department of the Arts at the University of Bologna, where he is a member of the Advanced Design Unit and CRICC center. He co-founded Relaia (a university spin-off), Slow/d, and Junto Innovation Hub aps, focusing on civic technologies for ethical community-driven decision-making.

He holds a PhD in Architecture and Design Cultures from the University of Bologna, with research centered on AI-enhanced collective intelligence. His work bridges design theory and technological implementation to address complex societal challenges.

Research interests focus on the impact of enabling technologies on collaborative innovation, particularly AI-driven sense-making processes in local communities. He developed the Systemic Relational Insights method to integrate human and artificial intelligence for complex problem-solving, emphasizing ethics and community involvement in territorial development.

Recent publications reveal consistent exploration of AI's role in community contexts, with growing emphasis on urban regeneration, human-tech autonomy, and mediation frameworks. Key trends include ethical deployment of hybrid intelligence systems and designing for emergent social properties rather than linear technological projections.
