Prof. Andrea Alimonti is a Full Professor at ETH Zurich, the University of the Italian Switzerland, and the University of Padova. He serves as Director of the Institute of Oncology Research and leads the Molecular Oncology group. His research focuses on innovative cancer therapies, including senescence-based treatments, myeloid-derived suppressor cells, gut microbiota in prostate cancer, and PTEN haploinsufficiency's role in tumorigenesis.
Education: MD from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', oncology training at the National Cancer Institute of Rome, and postdoctoral fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School. Academic leadership roles include heading the Molecular Oncology group since 2010.
Research Interests: Prioritizes translational oncology, with a focus on clinical applications. Current projects include senescence therapy for longevity and cancer, leveraging gut microbiota interactions, and advancing prostate cancer treatment strategies.
