Andrés Murillo is a PhD Researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Department of Bioenergy, focusing on Life Cycle Assessments, Bioeconomy, and Biogas technologies. He holds a M.Sc. in Sustainable Development from the University of Leipzig (2024) and a B.Sc. in Engineering Sciences from the University of Chile (2016), with a minor in Engineering for Sustainability. His professional experience includes roles as a Project Manager in sustainability consulting and as an Industrial Engineer.
Research interests emphasize integrating regional approaches into sustainability assessments and advancing prospective technologies for the bioeconomy. Key projects include the EE-Monitor for renewable energy expansion tracking and contributions to the HI-CAM initiative on climate resilience.
He received the UFZ Research Award 2024 (as part of a team) for work on sustainable biomass use. His work aligns with the UFZ’s mission to address environmental challenges through interdisciplinary research.
