About
Anders Sandvik is Professor of Physics at Boston University, specializing in computational quantum many-body systems. He develops quantum Monte Carlo methods to study phase transitions in spin systems, including the stochastic series expansion (SSE) technique. His research explores deconfined quantum criticality, emergent symmetries, and disordered quantum magnets.
Recent work investigates multicritical points in SO(5) symmetric systems and quantum criticality in Shastry-Sutherland compounds. Dr. Sandvik has received the Simons Investigator award, Aneesur Rahman Prize, and Guggenheim Fellowship. He teaches statistical thermodynamics and computational physics, with lectures delivered at international schools including Les Houches.
