Anda Brinkmane

Professor Anda Brinkmane is the Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Oral Health and Head of the Clinique of Conservative Dentistry at the Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Faculty of Dentistry. She is a full Professor and has been a leading figure in dental education and research in Latvia since the 1990s.

Her primary research interests are in preventive dentistry, with a strong focus on caries prevention, oral health promotion for children and the elderly, halitosis, fluoride use, saliva analysis, and the development of evidence-based preventive programs. Her work often involves epidemiological studies and clinical assessments of oral health status in various population groups.

The publications of Prof. Brinkmane demonstrate a consistent and impactful research trajectory over the past 15 years, primarily centered on preventing dental caries and improving oral health through public health initiatives. Her work spans clinical trials on preventive agents (like fluoride and sealants), epidemiological studies on children and the elderly, and research on oral hygiene practices. A significant portion of her recent work focuses on maternal and child oral health, highlighting the importance of early intervention.

She has held numerous leadership positions, including Vice-president of the Latvian Dental Association, President of Zonta International Riga, and Head of the Scholarships Commission at RSU. She is also a member of several national boards and commissions related to dental certification and public health.

Prof. Brinkmane has supervised multiple doctoral and qualification theses. Her research has been supported by projects from the Latvian Council of Science and the Ministry of Education and Science. She is the editor of the magazine "Zobārstniecības Raksti" and has co-authored books on healthcare in Latvia.

She is actively involved in her professional community and continues to contribute to the advancement of dental science and education in Latvia.
