Anastasia Eccles

Anastasia Eccles is an Assistant Professor of English at Yale University. She specializes in eighteenth-century and Romantic literature, with research interests in theories of reading, the novel, and the long history of formalism. Her current book project explores 'perverse attachment' as a concept in fiction reading experiences during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Eccles holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University (2018) and a B.A. from Yale University (2007). Her research connects literary sentimentalism with emergent mass politics, examining how reading practices shaped historical political consciousness.
