Anandi Rao

Anandi Rao is Lecturer in South Asian Studies at SOAS University of London's School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. Her research examines South Asian literature through postcolonial, translation, and gender studies frameworks.

Research focuses on Shakespeare adaptations in colonial India, gender representations in translations, and cultural manifestations of nationalism. Current projects investigate Hindi Shakespeare translations as cultural artifacts and translation through disability justice perspectives.

Dr. Rao supervises doctoral research on postcolonial environmental literature and teaches courses in South Asian literary traditions and translation theory.
