Anand Mehta

Anand Mehta is a Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Medicine, holding the prestigious Smart State Chair in Proteomic Biomarkers within the Department of Pharmacology & Immunology. His research focuses on cutting-edge spatial proteomics and glycomics technologies for cancer biomarker discovery.

His primary research interests center on spatial proteomics of the tumor microenvironment, particularly collagen stroma analysis in breast cancer and glycan biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma. Mehta pioneers mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) techniques to map N-glycans and extracellular matrix components, with significant work on racial disparities in breast cancer collagen reorganization and early detection of liver cancer. His lab develops machine learning-enhanced diagnostic algorithms using glycomic data for cancer classification.
