Anais Rameau, MD MPhil MS, is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Director of New Technologies in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University. She holds dual appointments as Associate Professor of Otolaryngology in Medicine and Chief of Dysphagia at the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice. Her clinical expertise focuses on swallowing disorders (dysphagia), voice disorders, and airway management, with a particular emphasis on geriatric dysphagia and global health initiatives in Zimbabwe.
Dr. Rameau completed her medical degree at McGill University (2010), followed by a M.Phil at Cambridge University (2017) and an MS at Weill Cornell Medical College (2022). She trained in otolaryngology residency at Stanford University and completed a laryngology fellowship at UC Davis under Dr. Peter Belafsky. She leads the Laryngology Innovation Lab, pioneering interdisciplinary research in voice, deglutition, and AI-driven diagnostics.
Her research integrates artificial intelligence, bioacoustics, and medical technology to address swallowing dysfunction in neurodegenerative diseases, stroke patients, and aging populations. Notable projects include the development of mobile health apps for gender-affirming voice training and AI-driven laryngoscopy tools. She has received the Paul B. Beeson Career Development Award (NIA) and is a Fellow of the Triological Society (5% of otolaryngologists qualify).
Key achievements include founding New York’s first multidisciplinary dysphagia clinic, co-authoring global consensus statements on swallowing disorders (Leuven, San Diego), and securing NIH grants for AI biomarker research. Her work addresses healthcare inequities in swallowing care and explores ethical AI governance in clinical decision-making.
