Anahí Viladrich is a Full Professor in the Department of Sociology (with a courtesy appointment in Anthropology) at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). She holds affiliations with the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, the Graduate Center's Department of Sociology, and the Center for Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies. Her work bridges migration studies, culture, and health, with a focus on Latinos in the U.S., ethnomedicine, and diasporic communities.
- Education: BA/MA in Sociology (University of Buenos Aires), PhD and MPhil in Sociomedical Sciences (Columbia University), MA in Sociology (The New School University).
Research interests include globalization, race/ethnicity, gender, botanicas and folk healing, medical tourism, and Argentine tango studies. Her book More than Two to Tango (2013) explores Argentine immigrant experiences through the lens of tango culture and survival strategies in New York City.
Awards: Marisa de Castro Benton Award in Sociomedical Sciences (PhD distinction, Columbia).
Leadership: Academic Director of CUNY's Faculty Fellowship Publication Program, supporting junior faculty. Active in mentoring and interdisciplinary scholarship.
