Dr. Ana Tominc is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head of Division at Queen Margaret University's School of Media, Communication and Performing Arts (MCPA), with a PhD in Linguistics from Lancaster University (2012, ESRC-funded). She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2019) and founder of the Biennial Conference on Food and Communication.
- Research Focus: Food media's role in national identity (UK/Scotland/former Yugoslavia), social class, populism, and post-socialist food cultures
- Teaching: Media and communication, food politics, research methods, and program leadership for MSc Gastronomy (2014-2023)
Her publications include a 2022 Routledge edited collection on early European food television shortlisted for the MeCCSA Outstanding Achievement Award. Funded projects explore Brexit food myths, socialist-era cooking shows, and media regulation. She collaborates with networks including the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS President) and the Culture in Society Research Centre.
