Ana Santos Rutschman is a Professor of Law at Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law, serving as Faculty Director of the Health Innovation Lab. Her work focuses on health law, intellectual property, and access to medicines. She holds a SJD (2016) from Duke University School of Law, with additional LLM degrees in Intellectual Property and International Trade. Prior to Villanova, she taught at Saint Louis University (2018–2022) and DePaul University (2016–2018). Her research addresses vaccine policy, pandemic preparedness, and the intersection of AI with healthcare regulation. Notably, she advised the World Health Organization on vaccine development during Ebola and Zika outbreaks. Her 2022 book, Vaccines as Technology, explores innovation barriers in public health. Awards include the 40 Under 40 Public Health Catalyst Award (2022) and recognition as a Bio IP Scholar (2017). She actively engages with policymakers and regulators through conferences and publications.
