Ana-Rocío Escobar-Chew

Ana-Rocío Escobar-Chew serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies within Michigan State University's College of Social Science, concurrently holding the position of Assistant Director for the Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Clinic where she integrates clinical practice with academic instruction.

Her research expertise centers on culturally responsive therapeutic approaches, specifically examining relational dynamics in Latino and bi-cultural couples, gender-based violence interventions, and adaptation of evidence-based practices for diverse populations. This work bridges clinical family therapy with critical social justice perspectives on cultural identity and trauma.

Dr. Escobar-Chew actively contributes to the MSU Research Consortium on Gender-based Violence, advancing interdisciplinary scholarship on violence prevention. Her clinical leadership in the CFT Clinic supports community-facing therapeutic services while training future practitioners in culturally competent care.
