Ana María Amorós Pons

Ana María Amorós Pons is an Associate Professor in the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the University of Vigo's Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication (Pontevedra Campus). She holds a PhD in Information Sciences from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1994), where she previously received her undergraduate degree (1988) and an FPI scholarship (1990-1993). With over 30 years of academic experience, she has taught at UAB, USC, and UVIGO, accumulating six teaching quinquenios (1990-2020).

Her research focuses on cinema studies spanning film production, advertising film, auteur cinema, genre theory, animation, experimental film, and television fiction. Recent work explores intersections of AI and cinema, gender violence campaigns during COVID-19, and Galician cultural identity in advertising. Publications demonstrate strong emphasis on:

• Digital media transitions
• Social crisis communication

Awards include four CNEAI research sixenios (three for research, one for knowledge transfer), 22 ACSUG curricular excellence recognitions, 'Journalist of Honor 2010' from Vigo Press Association, and the 2012 award for non-sexist communication research from the Association of Women Journalists of Catalonia.

She directs doctoral theses (7 completed) and undergraduate projects (51+ supervised), leads research group CS2, and co-founds Health, Sexuality and Gender group (PT1). Additional roles include UNESCO Chair membership, advisory positions for Galician audiovisual subsidies, committee work for ANECA accreditation, and documentary filmmaking. Administrative service includes terms as Department Director (2011, 2014).
