Ana Manero is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) within the Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy (CEEP), and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment and Oceans Institute. She holds an Australian Research Council (ARC) Early Career Industry Fellowship for her project on valuing Australia’s surfing resources. Previously, she worked as a Research Associate at the University of Adelaide (2017–2018), a Water Planning Engineer at the Water Corporation (2012–2014), and in roles at Santos, MWH, and international consulting firms. Her research focuses on sustainable natural resource management, water governance, and international development, addressing issues like poverty and inequality.
Education: PhD in Agricultural Economics (Australian National University), Master’s in Environmental Engineering (UC Berkeley), and Civil Engineering (École des Ponts ParisTech and Polytechnic University of Catalonia). Languages include Spanish, Catalan (native), English, French, Italian (fluent), and basic proficiency in German/Portuguese/Swahili/Indonesian.
Awards include the Rising Stars 2019 Finalist (UWA) and Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA). Her work spans grants on water justice, coastal management, and mine rehabilitation, with contributions to policy frameworks like the Fitzroy River Catchment consultation.
