About
Ana L. Sérvulo Miranda serves as a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is actively engaged in the research project Archaeology of Color: a comparative material culture study on Portuguese medieval polychrome sculpture (PTDC/ART-OUT/5992/2020), focusing on interdisciplinary analysis of historical artifacts.
Her research integrates archaeological methods with conservation science to examine pigment composition, sculptural techniques, and cultural transmission in medieval Iberian polychrome works. This work bridges art history, materials science, and heritage preservation, emphasizing non-invasive analytical approaches for fragile artifacts.
Dr. Miranda collaborates on grant-funded investigations into material culture evolution, with specific attention to Portuguese religious sculpture from the 12th-15th centuries. Her project examines cross-regional artistic exchanges through comparative pigment sourcing and technological analysis.
