Amy Shanler

Amy Shanler is a Teaching Professor at Boston University's College of Communication (COM), where she serves as Associate Chair of the Department of Mass Communication, Advertising, and Public Relations. She co-directs the award-winning PRLab, the nation’s longest-running student-led public relations agency, and teaches courses in public relations principles, crisis communications, and media relations.

Amy's research and teaching focus on Public Relations and Integrated Communication, drawing from her 25 years of industry experience in retail, technology, healthcare, and entertainment sectors. Her work emphasizes crisis communications, media relations, and student-run agencies as practical training models.

Her contributions have been recognized with the COM Dean’s Award for Alumni Initiatives and Innovation (2020) and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Faculty Advising Award (2018), alongside multiple Bell Ringer Awards and a PRSA Silver Anvil. She has presented at PRSA, PR Club, and AEJMC conferences on writing, media relations, and communication strategies.

Amy co-directs the PRLab, which provides real-world public relations training for students and has been recognized as the 'Best Training/Education Program' by PR News in 2018.
