Amy Saxton Wiggs

Amy Saxton Wiggs is an Adjunct Professor of Flute at the School of Music, Sam Houston State University (since 2015). She also teaches at Lone Star College-Kingwood, Deer Park ISD, and maintains a private studio. As Principal Flute of the Baytown Symphony Orchestra (2013-2023), she actively freelances and performs with Houston-area arts organizations.

• Education: Honors graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University (B.M., M.M. in Flute Performance, student of Albert Tipton); further studies with Louis Moyse and Aralee Dorough.
• Professional Affiliations: National Flute Association, Sigma Alpha Iota, Houston Flute Club.

Research and Performance Focus: Amy Wiggs specializes in flute pedagogy and chamber music, drawing from her extensive orchestral experience with the New Orleans Symphony/Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (1990-1994) and current performance activities. She owns and manages Accent Chamber Music, further emphasizing her commitment to collaborative music performance.
