Amy Petros

Amy Petros is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Texas (UNT). Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Columbia University (2006), an MPhil (2005), and an MA (2003) from the same institution, as well as a B.S. in Chemistry from UNT (2001).

Research Interests span chemical biology, metalloprotein modeling, and coordination chemistry, with a focus on thiolate-rich systems, metal ion binding dynamics, and NMR spectroscopy. She has also contributed to chemistry education research, particularly in assessing mathematical preparedness for undergraduate chemistry instruction.

Publications include foundational studies on cobalt, zinc, and copper metalloproteins, NMR methodology, and ligand design. Her recent work emphasizes interdisciplinary educational strategies, notably the MUST-know pilot study series (2017–2019).
