Amy Oliver

Amy Oliver is Associate Professor Emerita of Philosophy and Religion at American University. Her research explores Latin American philosophical traditions through topics such as marginality, feminism, nepantlismo, and transfronterismo, with focus on Hispanic essay forms and cultural narratives.

Her scholarship examines decolonial perspectives in Latin American thought, feminist philosophy in the Hispanic tradition, and epistemological critiques of Eurocentric philosophy. Recent work investigates Mexican philosophical traditions and the intersection of coloniality with metaphysical frameworks.

She serves on editorial boards for Cuadernos Americanos and Journal of Mexican Philosophy, and has chaired the American Philosophical Association's Committee on Hispanics.

Professor Oliver has directed American University's Women's and Gender Studies Program and chaired the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Her latest monograph examines feminist philosophy across Latin America and Spain.
