Amy Mullenix

Amy Mullenix serves as Deputy Director of the National Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development Center and Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her work focuses on strengthening maternal and child health (MCH) workforce capacity through training, technical assistance, and policy initiatives. She coordinates partnerships between academic and practice organizations to support MCH practitioners nationwide and acts as a liaison for state-level technical assistance requests.

Education: MSPH in Maternal and Child Health (UNC Chapel Hill, 2005) and MSW in Social Work (UNC Chapel Hill, 2005). Her research interests include health workforce development, implementation science, and equity-centered approaches to maternal and child health challenges. Recent work emphasizes advancing health equity through workforce innovations and addressing social determinants of health.

Key projects include the Partnering with WIC to Advance Maternal Health Equity Center and initiatives under the National Blueprint for Change for Children & Youth with Special Healthcare Needs. She contributes to grants like the USDA-funded project addressing maternal health warning signs among WIC participants. Publications highlight workforce capacity building, Title V program evaluations, and systems dynamics modeling in public health.

Mullenix brings experience from prior roles as a bilingual social worker in public health departments and the North Carolina Preconception Health Campaign coordinator. Her work bridges clinical, community, and policy spheres to improve health outcomes for marginalized populations.
