City University of New YorkAbout
Dr. Amy Moorman Robbins is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Hunter College, part of the School of Arts and Sciences. Her research examines modern/contemporary American poetry, avant-garde poetics, and feminist literature, with a focus on how genre-crossing works intersect with mass culture. Her book, American Hybrid Poetics, analyzes gender/race politics in hybrid literary forms.
She holds a PhD from the University of California, Riverside (2004). Current projects include co-authoring the Palgrave Reader’s Guide to Essential Criticism of American Poetry After World War II.
Research interests center on experimental poetics, feminist/women writers, and cultural critiques of the 'high/low' divide in literature. Her publications explore these themes through close readings of authors like Gertrude Stein and Claudia Rankine.
