Amy L. Knisley

Amy L. Knisley is Professor at Warren Wilson College with interdisciplinary expertise spanning environmental law, policy, and justice. Her research examines community engagement in hazardous waste remediation, environmental justice issues affecting eastern North Carolina communities of color, and water rights frameworks in the Rocky Mountain west.

She chairs the Swannanoa Superfund Community Advisory Group, applying her academic work to regional environmental health initiatives. Knisley's educational philosophy emphasizes connecting environmental responsibility with civic empowerment, drawing from experiences in Alaska, Maine, and New York City alongside her Appalachian roots.
