Amy Grubb

Dr. Amy Grubb is an Associate Professor of Forensic Psychology and Academic Course Leader for the MSc Forensic Psychology at the University of Gloucestershire. She is a Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist, and HCPC-registered Forensic Psychologist with extensive experience in developing and leading BPS-accredited forensic psychology programs. As the Research Lead for Psychological Sciences and REF Unit of Assessment 4 Coordinator, she focuses on advancing research in police and investigatory contexts, particularly hostage/crisis negotiation and sexual violence prevention. She has advised police forces nationally and internationally, including roles with Hampshire Constabulary and Warwickshire Police, and contributed to the National Negotiator Deployment Database analysis.

Her qualifications include a PhD in Forensic Psychology (Coventry University, 2017), MSc Forensic Psychology (2005), and BSc Psychology (2003). She holds Fellowships from the HEA and BPS, and is a member of the BPS Division of Forensic Psychology Training Committee.

Research interests emphasize improving police negotiator efficacy through evidence-based strategies and resilience practices. Key publications explore negotiation communication dynamics, deployment models (e.g., DIAMOND framework), and negotiator experiences. Her work bridges academic and applied settings, influencing policy and practitioner training.

External roles include external examining for MSc programs at Wolverhampton, Cardiff Metropolitan, and Liverpool Universities. She actively mentors researchers and collaborates on projects enhancing crisis communication and forensic psychology practices.
