Amy Dickson is a practicing artist, researcher, and programmer at the Royal College of Art (RCA), where she holds the academic rank of Tutor in the School of Communication. Her roles include teaching Visual Communication, Animation, and AcrossRCA modules focusing on ritual practices, sound, ecology, and community. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD at Lancaster University. Amy co-curates xviix.com, Jewellers (a Morecambe project space), and collective-iz, an all-female artist collective.
Her research explores the intersection of accessible lens-based technology and human-environment interactions, emphasizing improvisation and body-centered performance across textiles, para-cinema, and video. Key interests include time, place, and community through smartphone video and live performance.
Publications and exhibitions include contributions to Letters on Light (2021) and Sequence Magazine (2016). She has received the RSA Eddie Squires Bursary (2007). Her work often bridges artistic collaboration and ecological themes, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary and community-engaged practices.
