Amr Oloufa

Amr Oloufa is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF), College of Engineering and Computer Science. Dr. Oloufa earned his doctoral degree from the University of California, Berkeley, his master’s in civil engineering from Columbia University, and his bachelor’s from Cairo University. He previously served as Associate Professor and Associate Chair at UCF, demonstrating long-term academic leadership and commitment.

His research focuses on advancing construction engineering through automation and digital technologies. Key interests include construction automation, geographic information systems (GIS), simulation of construction operations, GPS applications, and sensor technologies in transportation and construction. He also explores object-oriented and relational databases, solid modeling, and the design structure matrix in design processes.

His recent publications from 2021 highlight a strong trend toward data-driven modeling in civil engineering, including predictive analytics for highway costs, labor productivity under change orders, and BIM adoption benefits. His work integrates advanced computational methods with civil infrastructure systems, particularly in transportation and construction simulation.

Dr. Oloufa has supervised 9 doctoral and 9 master’s students, contributing significantly to graduate education and research mentorship. His research has been supported by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Center for Advanced Transportation System Simulation (CATSS), and various industry sponsors, reflecting strong real-world applicability and collaboration.
