Amit K. Tiwari is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy. He leads the Cancer and Systems Therapeutics (CAST) program at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, focusing on targeted anticancer agents and non-apoptotic cell death pathways (necroptosis, methuosis, autophagy). His research integrates medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology with global collaborations.
Dr. Tiwari holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (St. John’s University, 2011), an M.S. (2008), and a B.S. in Pharmacy (RamEesh Institute, India, 2005). He has authored over 220 publications, secured patents, and mentored 75+ trainees. He oversees a $9M research portfolio and trains students across Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioinformatics, and Policy programs.
His research emphasizes novel therapeutics for drug-resistant cancers, leveraging nanomedicine, epigenetic modulation, and imaging technologies. Notable areas include developing methuosis inducers, HDAC inhibitor combinations, and biomimetic drug delivery systems. His work addresses ethnic disparities in cancer outcomes and immunotherapy advancements.
Dr. Tiwari’s awards include the SELECTED Ambassador Award (2023), President’s Award for Excellence (2022), and Distinguished Young Alumni recognition (2022). He serves on grant review panels, editorial boards, and professional societies like the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Society of Toxicology.
