Amit Jain

Assoc Prof Amit Jain is an Associate Professor in Industrial Systems Engineering and Management at the National University of Singapore (NUS), affiliated with the College of Design and Engineering. He holds a Doctorat from Université Paris Dauphine (2011), a Ph.D. from INSEAD (2009), an MBA from INSEAD (1991), and a B.Tech. from IIT Delhi (1987). His corporate experience includes roles at Schlumberger, the World Bank, and INSEAD Online.

His research focuses on strategy, organizational behavior, machine learning, and learning psychology. Recent work explores knowledge flows post-inventor exit, organizational resilience in biotechnology, and the dual-edged role of scientist specialization in innovation.

Teaching emphasizes experiential learning through case studies and weekly online assessments. He pioneered these methods at NUS to provide continuous feedback and deepen student engagement, particularly in MBA/MSc programs like Corporate Strategy and Technology Management.

Publications span 20 years, with a recent focus on R&D productivity, knowledge retention, and innovation dynamics in tech industries. His work bridges organizational theory with practical managerial insights in biotech, semiconductors, and pharmaceutical sectors.
