Amirhossein Pakseresht
Associate Professor · Thermal barrier coating
Alexander Dubček University of TrenčínAbout
Amirhossein Pakseresht is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Coatings at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia. He is affiliated with the Joint Glass Centre (Vitrum Laugaricio – VILA) and actively contributes to the Centre for Functional and Surface-Functionalized Glasses (FunGlass) project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program.
His educational background includes a BS (2003) and MS (2005) in Materials Science and Engineering from Tehran University, Iran, followed by a PhD (2015) from the Materials and Energy Research Center in Tehran, and a postdoc (2018) at Tehran University. In 2019, he served as an Adjunct Research Assistant Professor at Amirkabir University (Tehran Polytechnic).
Dr. Pakseresht's research focuses on thermal barrier coatings, hot corrosion, splat morphology, thin films, ceramic and metallic composites, and high entropy alloys. His work spans both fundamental materials science and practical applications in high-temperature engineering. He has made significant contributions to understanding failure mechanisms in thermal barrier coatings and developing new coating technologies with enhanced performance.
His publications demonstrate a strong trend toward advanced thermal barrier coatings, with particular emphasis on YSZ (Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia) systems, ceramic composites, and novel coating architectures. Recent work shows increasing interest in biomedical applications of coatings and the development of multifunctional materials with both thermal protection and other specialized properties.
