Amin Samman

Amin Samman is a Senior Lecturer in International Political Economy at City, University of London, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the UCL Centre for Capitalism Studies (1 September 2024–31 August 2025). His work bridges temporal, historical, and existential dimensions of capitalism, focusing on money, debt, and finance.

His research contributes to 'finance and society' studies, evidenced by his authorship of History in Financial Times (2019) and editorship of Clickbait Capitalism (2023). He currently leads the Finance and Society Network and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Finance and Society.

Currency of Nihilism, his project at UCL, explores nihilism's financial status through historical and digital-financial lenses, aiming to develop a theory linking global psychological trends to financial systems. This aligns with his focus on interdisciplinary approaches to capitalism's financial aspects.
