About
Associate Professor Amin Chegenizadeh specializes in geotechnical and pavement engineering at Curtin University's School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on sustainable material reuse, soil stabilization, and environmental geotechnics, particularly contaminated land remediation.
Awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2018) and Best Paper Award (2017), he has published extensively on waste material applications in construction, including rubber/plastic-modified asphalt, geosynthetic clay liners, and sludge-based barriers. Current projects investigate microplastic pollution and decarbonization through waste-to-energy conversion.
Laboratory investigations employ advanced techniques like torsional ring shear testing and SEM microstructural analysis. Professional memberships include Australian Geomechanics Society and Engineers Australia.
