Amin Amin

Amin Amin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in gastroenterology, hepatology, and obesity medicine with a focus on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). He is affiliated with the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases and holds certifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and obesity medicine.

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Leicester School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training in metabolic science and clinical residency at University Hospitals Birmingham. He advanced his expertise in immune-metabolism and adipocyte biology at the University of California San Francisco before joining UT Southwestern's Physician Scientist Training Program. His research centers on improving liver transplant success by reducing hepatic fat and enhancing metabolic resilience, using quantitative hepatic metabolism and rodent normothermic machine perfusion with carbon-13 tracers.

His work spans clinical and translational research, including studies on anti-CD20 therapies, MOGAD/NMOSD registries, and novel treatments for multiple sclerosis and ALS. He has contributed to international consensus statements on smoldering disease in MS and led trials evaluating therapies like CNM-Au8 and ANK-700. His interdisciplinary approach bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications, particularly in metabolic liver diseases and autoimmune neurology.
