Amelia C. Neuberger

Amelia C. Neuberger is a Lecturer and Director of Laboratories at Loyola University New Orleans' Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. She joined the university in 2012 as a faculty member and became Director of Laboratories in 2015, overseeing undergraduate lab preparation, instrumentation maintenance, and teaching.

• Education: PhD from Tulane University (2012), B.S. in Chemistry and Sociology from Loyola University New Orleans (2007)

Dr. Neuberger specializes in Transition Metal Photochemistry, particularly Rhenium Highly Oxidizing Excited States, and has contributed to research on porphyrin nanowires and rhenium complexes. Her work intersects Inorganic Chemistry, Nanomaterials, and Coordination Chemistry.

She teaches General Chemistry I and II (lectures and labs), Organic Chemistry I lab, Chemistry of Technology, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemistry Seminar for Majors, and coordinates Senior Capstone and Seminar courses. She also serves as faculty advisor for the ACS Student Club.

Dr. Neuberger attended National Science Foundation workshops on Chemistry and Art, blending her interests in science and creativity. Outside academia, she is a two-time New Orleans Skee-ball League champion and enjoys soccer, horror, and science fiction.
