Amber Simpson is an Associate Professor and Co-Assistant Director in Binghamton University's Department of Teaching, Learning and Educational Leadership. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Clemson University and researches STEM identity development, maker education, and family engagement in STEM.
Her work examines how to increase participation from underrepresented groups in STEM pathways and develops community STEM programs. Simpson teaches courses on educational research and innovative mathematics instruction methods.
Recent publications explore failure mindsets in education, STEM thinking in elementary learners, caregiver-child engineering interactions, and the role of play in learning, reflecting her focus on equitable STEM education across formal and informal settings.
