Rotterdam University of Applied SciencesAbout
Amber Koning is a PhD candidate and lecturer at Rotterdam Business School (RBS), part of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. She serves as coordinator of the Risk Management & Behavior minor and develops interdisciplinary Leadership-themed programs for semesters 6-7.
Her research focuses on organizational ambidexterity in SMEs - the ability to simultaneously explore new opportunities while improving existing processes. While ambidexterity research exists for large organizations, her work addresses the gap in SME contexts and investigates how to develop these skills through education to prepare students for dynamic job markets.
Amber aims to create practical educational examples from real business dilemmas, strengthening leadership curriculum through her research. She has spent eight years at RBS, progressing from marketing lecturer to research lecturer and current Leadership minors theme coordinator.
Her educational background includes Sportmarketing & Management at Hogeschool Rotterdam (2010-2014) and Marketing Communication at University of Birmingham. Prior to RBS, she advised Cambodian entrepreneurs and worked in Dutch insurance marketing.
