Amar Laila is a Research Fellow at Stockholm University, holding a joint post-doctoral fellowship with the Stockholm Resilience Centre and the EAT-Lancet 2.0 Commission. His position is part of the Department of Family Relations & Applied Nutrition. His work focuses on food system justice and transforming food systems into sustainable and equitable models. Previously, he completed his PhD in Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph, researching food literacy and food waste in Canadian families with young children.
His research interests revolve around sustainable eating behaviors, food system justice, and policy interventions. He employs a justice and food systems approach to understand how interventions and policies can positively influence dietary practices. Key areas include corporate power dynamics in food systems, citizen engagement in policy, and the interplay between family dynamics and child health outcomes.
