Amar Casey

Dr. Amar Casey is a Lecturer at San Francisco State University, affiliated with the Ethnic Studies & Psychology department. He teaches core courses in Africana Studies, including "From Africa to Olmec America: Ancient African Prehistory and History" and "Kemet, Afrocentricity, and the Dawn of Science."

• Research Interests: Focus on African diaspora history, Afrocentric theory, service learning, and social justice activism.
• Activism: Organizer of Oakland's annual Kwanzaa celebration and advocate for cultural empowerment in the Bay Area.
• Publications: Co-authored a chapter in Race, Poverty, and Social Justice: Multidisciplinary Perspectives Through Service Learning (2012), exploring service learning as a tool for social justice.
