Amanda Thompson-Abbott

Amanda Thompson-Abbott is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Legal Environment at the Brad D. Smith Schools of Business, Marshall University. She holds an MBA from Marshall University (2003) and has been actively involved in teaching and academic service since at least 2008.

Her teaching responsibilities include courses in Cost Accounting, Federal Taxation, and Principles of Accounting. She serves as Faculty Advisor for the Volunteer International Tax Assistance Program (since 2009) and Coordinator for SCORES (since 2008). Additionally, she has been a committee member for the WV Society of CPAs Student Recruitment Committee since 2016 and acts as Site Coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Her professional activities emphasize community engagement and academic governance, with a focus on tax education and career development for students.
