Amanda Roth

Amanda Roth is an Associate Professor at SUNY Geneseo with a joint appointment in Philosophy and Women's & Gender Studies. She coordinates the Women's & Gender Studies program and focuses on Moral & Political Philosophy, Bioethics, Feminist Philosophy, and Gender & Sexuality.

• Education: B.A. from Lafayette College (2004), Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan (2010).

Her research bridges feminist theory, bioethics, and nonideal theory, examining topics like reproductive ethics, queer family structures, and ethical pragmatism. Recent projects analyze abortion, pregnancy loss, and the implications of reproductive technologies.

Her publications reflect interdisciplinary engagement with bioethics, feminist philosophy, and LGBTQ+ studies, emphasizing value conflicts and pragmatic solutions in healthcare and family-making contexts. Amanda also contributes to pedagogy through courses on feminist philosophy, bioethics, and queer/sexuality studies.
