Amanda Rider is the McCoy Associate Professor of Education and Director of the Education Post-Baccalaureate Program at Marietta College. She holds a BA in Middle Childhood Education from Ohio University (2005), an MA in Educational Leadership from St. Francis University (2008), and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University (2013). Appointed in 2019, she teaches courses such as Children's Literature, Educational Psychology, and Elementary Social Studies & Writing. Her research interests focus on preparing teacher candidates to effectively serve students, families, and communities through evidence-based practices. Rider has prior experience in middle school education, elementary administration, and teacher education program development.
Her professional commitments emphasize fostering inclusive educational environments and advancing educator preparedness. She oversees the Education Post-Baccalaureate Program, which supports candidates in obtaining licensure. Outside academia, she enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and family time.
