Amanda Petersen

Amanda Petersen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University. Her scholarship examines intersections of race, gender, and criminal justice systems through critical theoretical frameworks.

Research explores abolitionist perspectives in criminology, anti-Black violence in policing, feminist and queer pedagogical approaches, and implicit bias in sentencing. Publications analyze visual representations of policing, queer criminological theory, and methodological innovations in justice studies.

Work appears in journals addressing racial equity, carceral systems, and transformative justice paradigms.
