Amanda Patrick

Amanda Patrick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Mississippi State University. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with a minor in Anthropology from NC State University in 2011. Her academic journey at NC State included involvement in research groups, participation in the American Chemical Society club, and mentorship from faculty like Prof. Maria Oliver-Hoyo and Dr. Jaap Folmer. She transitioned from synthetic chemistry to analytical chemistry after undergraduate research challenges, focusing on instrumentation like NMR and GC.

Her current research group investigates ionic liquids and small biomolecules using mass spectrometry. She teaches courses in general chemistry, instrumental analysis, and graduate-level mass spectrometry. Patrick credits NC State for fostering her foundational skills in research, teaching, and outreach, including an NSF GRFP fellowship that supported her graduate studies.
