Amanda Musgrove is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Calgary, within the Faculty of Science. She holds additional roles as Associate Head (EDIA) in the Department of Chemistry and interim Co-Director of the Energy Science Program. She is also Chair of the Canadian Society for Chemistry's Chemical Education Division. Her research focuses on science education, particularly attitudes toward chemistry, open educational resources (OER), laboratory safety training, and graduate teaching assistant development.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia (2013), an M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry from UBC (2006) and the University of Alberta (2003), respectively, and a Provincial Instructor’s Diploma in Adult Education from Vancouver Community College (2012).
Her work includes adapting OpenStax textbooks for chemistry curricula, emphasizing interactive learning and accessibility. Her research spans STEM pedagogy, instructional practices, and game-based learning. Publications highlight her contributions to both educational theory and analytical chemistry, including studies on liposome interactions and electrochemical systems.
Awarded the University of Calgary Teaching and Learning Grant in 2023 and 2019, her scholarly impact includes advancing science education through innovative course design and collaborative initiatives. She teaches courses such as Analytical Chemistry and General Chemistry, focusing on fostering student engagement and practical skills.
