Amanda Lynch serves as Chairperson of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Director of Nutrition/Dietetics, and Associate Professor at Oakland University's School of Health Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Applied Nutrition from Pennsylvania State University.
Her research focuses on understanding food decision-making processes, particularly among bariatric surgery patients. Using mixed methods, she examines dietary and lifestyle changes for weight management, emphasizing frameworks like life course theory and self-regulation models. Recent studies include qualitative analyses of bariatric surgery experiences and provider roles in obesity treatment.
Teaching interests include Lifecycle Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyles. Professional affiliations include the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and American Society for Nutrition. She advises on medical nutrition therapy guidelines and behavioral interventions for obesity management.
