Dr. Amanda Lannan is an Assistant Professor in the Visual Impairment (VI) Program at the University of Kentucky's College of Education. She has 13 years of experience as a teacher of the visually impaired, special educator, and general education teacher. Her unique perspective as a blind individual, educator, and researcher drives her STEM-focused work on equitable access for students with disabilities. She directs the Plans to Achieve Transition program, which trains visually impaired/DeafBlind students in employability skills.
Her research emphasizes assistive technology and tactile learning strategies to improve mathematics instruction for students with disabilities. Dr. Lannan's 2021 NSF CADRE fellowship highlights her contributions to advancing inclusive educational practices.
